The pre-rolls guide

What to know before you order pre-rolls.

Standard, infused, and everything in between

Not all pre-rolls are the same joint. The differences come down to what's inside the paper and what, if anything, was added.

  • Standard. Just ground flower in a paper cone. Simple, smooth, the everyday choice.
  • Infused. Flower boosted with kief, hash, or concentrate for a stronger, longer-lasting hit — the potency tier.
  • Blunt. Rolled in a tobacco-free leaf or hemp wrap. Slower burn, bigger format, fuller draw.
  • Hash hole. An infused pre-roll with a core of rosin or hash running down the middle — a connoisseur favorite.

Singles, packs, and dogwalkers

Pre-rolls come in a few standard sizes. Singles run 0.5g or 1g — a session or two. Multi-packs bundle five to ten mini-rolls (often called “dogwalkers”) at 0.3–0.5g each, ideal for short sessions or trying several strains in one buy. Larger 1.5–2g rolls and infused options sit at the top of the range.

What separates a good pre-roll from a bad one

Two things: what's inside, and how it's packed. Whole-flower pre-rolls — ground from actual buds — burn evenly and taste cleaner. Pre-rolls built from shake or trim (the leftover crumbs) tend to run hot, “canoe” down one side, and taste harsher. A good roll is packed firmly but not tight, so it draws easily.

Everything on our menu is lab-tested Massachusetts flower, and we note whole-flower versus blended so you know what you're lighting.

How to store and relight a pre-roll

Keep pre-rolls in their airtight tube, away from heat and light — loose in a pocket they dry out and crush. To relight a half-smoked joint, tap off the loose ash first, then light evenly while rotating so it doesn't run. An unsmoked pre-roll stays fresh for six months or more stored properly.

Pacing an infused pre-roll

Infused pre-rolls can be two to three times stronger than a standard one, and the effect builds as you smoke. Take a puff or two, set it down, and wait a few minutes before deciding you need more — you can always relight. If you're newer to cannabis, a standard pre-roll is the friendlier place to start.
